Gurugram, April 29, 2021: In view of the rising Covid cases in Maharashtra, SpiceHealth has mobilised a mobile testing laboratory to Nagpur on an urgent basis for conducting Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests. In addition, it has also dispatched 125 SpiceOxy ventilators to the city. The initiative was taken on priority on the personal intervention of Hon’ble Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Shri. Nitin Gadkari.
SpiceHealth will also be supplying oxygen concentrators to Maharashtra government and will soon be setting-up mobile testing laboratories in Aurangabad and Nashik. SpiceHealth already operates multiple mobile RT-PCR testing laboratories in Mumbai. All SpiceHealth laboratories are accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories and Indian Council of Medical Research and each lab can conduct 3,000 tests per day.
SpiceHealth, a healthcare company launched by the promoters of SpiceJet, has been working actively with state governments and hospitals across the country to address the issue of acute shortage of oxygen. It has imported more than 2000 oxygen concentrators in the last two weeks for emergency use and distribution across India.
SpiceHealth’s Nagpur testing laboratory was inaugurated by Shri. Nitin Gadkari and Shri. Devendra Fadnavis, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, today. They were joined virtually for the inauguration by Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet and Avani Singh, CEO, SpiceHealth.
Avani Singh, CEO, SpiceHealth said, “SpiceHealth has been at the forefront of this battle against Covid-19. We are proud that we could set up an RT-PCR mobile testing laboratory in Nagpur on such short notice after being asked by Hon’ble Minister, Shri. Nitin Gadkari. In addition, we will soon be setting up mobile testing labs in Aurangabad and Nashik. SpiceHealth will also be supplying oxygen concentrators to Maharashtra government and has also dispatched 125 of our ‘Made-in-India’ SpiceOxy ventilators to Nagpur. We are firmly committed to helping our country in these difficult times and are honoured to be a part of various state government efforts towards fighting this pandemic.”
SpiceHealth has emerged as the fastest growing diagnostic lab in the country having conducted more than 2 million RT-PCR tests since its launch in November 2020.
It disrupted the RT-PCR testing space by offering tests in mobile laboratories at Rs. 499, as opposed to the then existing rate of Rs. 2400 in Delhi. In another path-breaking initiative, test results were made available within six hours as compared to the existing 24-48 hour time frame. SpiceHealth was also the first to introduce the innovative concept of mobile testing laboratories that could be placed in remote areas, in containment zones, in villages where access to hospitals and medical facilities was and remains a challenge.
SpiceHealth’s first mobile testing facility in Delhi was inaugurated by Sh. Amit Shah, Hon’ble Union Home Minister and Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Hon’ble Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare.
In January 2021, SpiceHealth launched a first-of-its-kind genome sequencing laboratory at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to help in identifying and containing the new mutant variants of Covid-19 virus unwittingly carried by passengers travelling from other countries.
After having worked with multiple State governments, SpiceHealth opened its testing facilities for the general public in Delhi and Mumbai to ensure rapid testing to fight the pandemic offering the cheapest RT-PCR testing at just INR 499/-.
SpiceHealth had set-up mobile laboratories and testing facilities across Haridwar and at five locations along the border of Uttarakhand for pilgrims visiting the Kumbh Mela as part of a MoU with the state government.
SpiceHealth, in association with the Kerala Medical Services Corporation (KMSCL), in March has set up its mobile testing laboratories in Kasaragod, Palakkad & Thrissur for conducting Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests.
Earlier, SpiceHealth had launched SpiceOxy – a compact, portable, non-invasive ventilation device, which is an effective solution for patients with mild to moderate breathing issues and had also introduced fingertip pulse oximeter, a handy device making it easier for people to measure the oxygen level of the blood.
